If you look at multi-billion companies today like Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Apple, and Amazon, you may have observed how well they take care of their employees.
If you are able to make your workforce happy and motivated, they tend to be more proactive and creative. They are also more committed to the company and less likely to leave you.
For this article, I will be talking about the impact of happy and motivated employees on your organization and how you can keep their loyalty.

The workforce is the backbone of any business.
They are the ones that function on a specific task that is assigned to them. On the other hand, a supervisor is someone who ensures that each team member fulfills their duties and responsibilities. At the same time, your top executives oversee daily business operations.
As you see, each one of them has their specific role to fulfill, which makes them very critical moving forward.
One study found that unproductive employees cost companies around $450 to $550 billion in losses in the United States alone. (1) That’s a lot of money lost due to disengaged employees!
Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, and Bill Gates recognize the importance of investing in employees and hiring the best possible talent for the job.
As a result, they are among the top billionaires today.
In fact, when you look at the wealthiest people on Forbes, you’d observe that most of them are individuals who strongly advocate investing in talents rather than talking about putting their money on stocks or real estate.

Like most management, their impulse towards the subject matter would be to give them a raise.
Of course, it would solve the problem in the short-term, but you have to realize that as high as their compensation would be, there’s still a chance that they would leave if they’re unhappy with how they are treated.
The following are simple hacks on how to keep your team happy and motivated without even giving them a salary raise—
Make your employees feel that they matter
One way you can make your employees that they are important is by putting them in a position where they can contribute ideas or suggestions that they believe could be beneficial to the company.
By making them so, you send a clear message that their opinions do matter and make them feel an important member of the team.
Give appreciation when it’s due
Are you the kind of employer that is quick to give criticism whenever your team members commit any errors?
How about when they do something right that benefited the company as a whole?
Give them praise whenever it is due, or they reach a milestone.
Not only that you make them happy, but you also boost their confidence and inspire them to work harder.
Set clear goals
Relay your corporate goals as clearly as possible to your employees. Make sure that you set realistic expectations that you and your team can work hand in hand.
Promote a healthy work-life balance
A good indication of a healthy work-life balance is a happy employee. And you can identify a happy employee by their demeanor coming to work and through their productivity level.
There are several ways how you can nurture a healthy work-life balance. And one of them is to have a regular talk with each of your employees, and asking them how they are or there is something that they need.
Be honest but delicate
Let’s go back to the concern of giving correction to your employees.
It is important that you give them your honest opinion about their work and what needs to improve. But be delicate in handling any criticism to your employees.
You have to bear in mind that the human ego is very fragile, and you may very well destroy their confidence instead of creating a happy work environment if you attempt to react harshly.
By being mindful and empathetic of how they would feel, you promote confidence between you and them and create a trusting relationship—as a result; you’ll see why the employees are the most important asset of an organization.
To recognize your employees’ accomplishments or contributions to the success of a project, you can give incentives through a bonus, a raise, or vacations.
Having constant communication between team members is essential for your sectors to work efficiently and more productively.
Also, communication builds trust and develops confidence between one another.
Lastly, I want to point out that establishing a good relationship with your employees isn’t always being right.
Your focus should be to promote an honest and open conversation whenever there are issues or conflicts to resolve.
Create an opportunity for your employees to grow. Provide them seminars, training, or monthly coaching sessions to help develop into a more competent employee.
Not only would it be beneficial to the company, but you also improve loyalty and lessen the likelihood of them leaving the company.
Set an example
When you are leading a company, it is extremely important that you lead by example.
What can you expect if you show unethical work practice to your employees?
If you are always late, then they may likely do the same—if my boss is always tardy, then why should I come on time.
