Don’t Compare Product Price In Shopify Dropshipping
Product pricing is one of the stages your items have to go through during the product testing process.
As a startup, you might have the temptation to look at other online stores and compare your products with them.
And then, you might also have the urge to base your pricing the same as your competitors.
However, this is a common mistake startups commit, and in this article, we will be discussing why you don’t compare product prices with other online merchants.
So, in today’s topic, we will be giving you advice on pricing, particularly product comparison, and why you should stick to the pricing standard you have set.
With that out of the way, let’s begin…
Why you don’t compare product prices with other stores
As I mentioned earlier, product pricing is a major process, especially if you’re a startup and testing products to determine your best sellers.
It’s also important to be certain that you’re not overcharging your clients.
And on the other hand, it may also lead to undercharging of products to the point that you’re not making any profits.
Again, if you’re a startup, you may be tempted to look into your competitors’ product costs and base your pricing on them. Well, I’m here to tell you that this may not be the way to go.
Pricing your product depends on several factors other than considering the fair market value of the products you’re selling.
Although you may have the same products in your store, you have to remember that your supplier may not be the only one distributing those products.
With this being said—the price of the items may vary depending on supplier-to-supplier as well.
One of the reasons why you don’t compare product prices is that copying your competitors’ price index may cause you several problems.
For example, the cost of the items from the supplier may be a little higher. And it may lead to a loss if you insist on copying your competitors’ methods, as explained earlier.
So how should you sell your items if it’s a little higher compared to others?
An effective way you can sell your products is through social media, particularly Facebook.
If you created interesting advertising content on Facebook, then there’s a good chance that you might trigger the interest of potential customers and entice them to visit your online shop.
This is even true if your product cost is a little higher.
So at this point, your target audiences are on-the-spot buyers.
Also, you have to remember that such type of buyers is driven by price and purpose.
So what this means is that if they think that they need it and the deal seems like a steal, then it is likely that you may have successful transactions as a result.
I hope my content has helped you in realizing why you don’t compare product prices with your competitors.
Again, there are factors like the cost given by different suppliers. And what this means is that basing your price solely on how your competitors’ price the items may lead to undercharging your items.
As a result, it would lead to losses on your part.
Also, advertising content that is well-thought-out could effectively generate sales on Facebook.
Well, I guess that’s just about it!
Thank you for the time, and I hope to see you on the following topics!
